setContentView(page)Android Chat UI Kit FAQs
What does the current Android UI Kit require?
The current guide uses Kotlin, the uikit and atomic_x modules, and LoginStore. A ChatPageView host needs a Material Components theme and must release the view on destruction. Follow the guide for module imports, native permissions, and optional Call dependencies.
How is the Android UI Kit different from the SDK?
The UI Kit adds connected interface components on top of the messaging SDK. Use the Core SDK when you want to build the entire interface yourself.
How do I authenticate users of the Android Chat UI Kit?
Generate production UserSig on your backend. Pass it to the client for authentication and keep your application secret on the server.
Are these Android snippets a complete application?
They show individual integration steps. Follow the full guide for imports, initialization, login, error handling, and target-specific configuration. Test messaging with separate accounts before release.
How is Android Chat UI Kit usage priced?
Hosted Chat service usage follows your selected plan. Check the included features and allowances for your application; optional plugins and Call services can have separate requirements.
How do I integrate Android Chat UI Kit with Kotlin or Java?
Follow the Android project and manifest setup, then handle runtime permissions and Activity cleanup where required. Test on actual devices, including app background and foreground transitions.
How do I test Android Chat UI Kit before releasing my app?
Check login, SDK readiness, send and receive events, and message state after reconnecting.
How do I customize the interface for Android Chat UI Kit?
Configure the native page objects rather than React-style props. For example, call ConversationsPageView.setHeaderTitle("Messages") and connect onConversationClick to your ChatPageView screen. The Activity hosting ChatPageView must use a Material Components theme; missing theme attributes can cause runtime crashes. Preserve the selected conversation ID when customizing navigation, and keep any source changes in your imported Chat modules.
